"Novel Catalytic Materials for Fine Chemicals Synthesis and Renewable Energy Conversion", a Second-Phase Program(2008-2012) of the Sino-Netherlands Strategic Science Alliance, had its launching ceremony held at DICP on 8th July. Dr. R.A. van Santen, professor of the Schuit Institute of Catalysis of Einhoven University and academician of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences(KNAW), and Prof. LI Can, Vice-Director of DICP and Member of CAS, were present at the ceremony. Mr. WANG Hua, Head of the Science & Technology Office of DICP, addressed the ceremony on behalf of DICP, and Mr. ZHAN Qihong, Director of the International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Science & Technology of China(MOST), expressed congratulation on the commencing of the program.
Programs financed by the Sino-Netherlands Strategic Science Alliance are the biggest scientific and technological cooperation projects supported by the Chinese and Dutch governments(via MOST and KNAW). They are aiming at the establishing of strategic science coalitions among the top-ranking research institutes of the two countries.
